Coach John Lenihan is starting his 3rd baseball season at Emerson in 2023-2024. After opening Emerson in 2021-2022, this will be the Mavericks 2nd Varsity season. Born in Columbus, OH, Coach Lenihan moved to Plano, TX and graduated from Plano East Senior High.
Prior to Emerson, Coach Lenihan coached for 17 years at Lakeview Centennial High School where he spent 11 years as Head Coach. During his time at Lakeview, Coach Lenihan won 161 games, made 5 playoff appearances, coached 2 All-State players, and was named Coach of the Year twice (2016, 2018).
After high school, Lenihan played 2 seasons at Collin County Community College where he set the school record for on-base percentage his sophomore year. CCCC made the regional tournament both years. After CCCC, Coach Lenihan played 2 years at Southern Arkansas University where he graduated Cum Laude.
During his 2 years at SAU, the Muleriders won 80 games and started on a team that played in the Gulf South Conference Championship game.
Coach Lenihan is married to his wife Jessica, who teaches Advanced Chemistry at Emerson. Together they have 3 beautiful girls – Hailey, Lynette, Elizabeth and a son – Aaron Michael.
